The Fixed Grip Lift
Here is a short explanation of how a fixed-grip ski lift
works.  The lift shown is the Sunshine Triple located in
Steamboat Springs, Colorado.

bad thunderstorm behind it!
The emergency breaks are located in the
center edge of this bull-wheel.
Notice the sensors that would stop the
lift if it derailed.
