With the lack of snow in our central and northern mountains this season, the San Juan Mtns are feasting in deep snow. Today, DMR/Purg saw a reported 4" from this last storm, but the Legends area had at least 6-8" of fresh light snow. The base is so deep from last weeks storms that rocks and small trees are feet under snow.
Some of the best snow was off of Legends with untracked snow as late as mid-afternoon. The front side and Hermosa Park also had great conditions, although those runs seemed to be tracked out quicker. The Grizzley lift was closed today, so those runs will be deep when that area reopens.
Here are a few pictures from today:
I'll post a condition report this weekend for Telluride... _________________ -Brad
