|Evergreen Basin Ski Area
|Evergreen Basin could have been Evergreen's big break for a sizable ski
area. Initial plans called for seven Riblet double chairs, the order was
actually placed with the ski lift company. The main lift line was cut in the
summer of 1965 as well as two runs from the summit. The area's
construction came to a halt after the Forest Service claimed the owner
was cutting trails partly on National Forest land and not his private
ranch. They had the option to resurvey the land, but with on going court
case the plans were cancelled.
The area was located off of Brook Forest Road in Evergreen off of
Highway 73. The area is still located on private property.
