Holiday Hill
Operation Dates: 1946 - 1949
Lifts: 1 tow
History: The area operated at the base of the current Sunlight Ski Area.
It opened back in 1946 with the second longest ski tow in the state.  It
was powered by a Buick engine and had a line speed of eight miles per
hour.  Based on an interview with the former operator, Don Vanderhoof,
when the downshifted engine gears, it would send people flying off of the
tow!

Holiday Hill operated only on weekends and Wednesdays only.  The
largest recorded attendance at the area was about four-hundred and fifty
people.  While there were plans to expand the hill by installing a T-bar, the
town discouraged the idea because construction of the nearby Red
Mountain Ski Area began.  This resort included one of the state's first
single chairs.  Holiday Hill later closed in 1949 and construction of
Sunlight Ski Area did not begin until 1965, when a permit was issued for
the construction of the resort.
