History:
Val Verde installed a platter lift in 1969 with a length of 872 feet and a
vertical drop of 138 feet.  The area continued to operate for over a
decade and finally closed in 1982.  

The area specilized in church group ski vacations.  Typical deals offered
to these groups was lodging in their two bunk houses and two "all you can
eat" meals per day!  Rentals at the area only cost $8.50 for the length of
you trip.
