Eclipse Snow Park
Editor's Note:
Please help Eclipse Snow Park in their quest to reopen St. Mary's
Glacier Ski Area.  I have attached files provided to me on the
proposed bill for a land swap in Congress and a map outlining what
exact parcels they seek.

Call for Support:

Fellow Supporters,

This message is to inform you of the proposed land trade under
House Resolution 4249 between the US Forest Service (USFS) and
Grand Creek, LLC, recently legislated by Congressman Mark Udall.
As many of you know, St. Mary's Glacier is Clear Creek County's
largest tourist attraction and for many years the parking, sanitation,
and trail maintenance issues have been difficult for visitors and
residents alike. Also, the recent rezoning of the Eclipse property has
left several fragmented sections with pockets of USFS land
intertwined within the Eclipse property boundary, as seen in the
attachment titled "Figure 1 - Proposed Land Trade Parcels."

The attachment for HR4249 outlines the proposed land trade details
and will not only simplify land management for both parties, but will
provide designated public access to St. Mary's Glacier and James
Peak Wilderness areas. However, it's important to note that the
Federal Government requires an equal valuation of all traded parcels
before a trade can be completed. In my opinion, this proposal
benefits all parties and addresses the previous concerns I've
mentioned. The solution is a great benefit to tax payers and the
Federal Government alike, as it is a no cost way of meeting the
requirements of the James Peak Wilderness Act, where public
access is key component.

For many of us who are excited about the new ski area, this bill will
simplify the land trade process, resolve several public access issues,
and aid the planning and development review stage for Eclipse Snow
Park. As a local resident, avid snowboarder, and outdoor enthusiast,
I'm asking for your continued support of the Eclipse project via email
or letter to Congressman Udall. The proposal has received
opposition, so I urge all of you to take a few moments of your time
and send a positive message of support as soon possible at the
following link:

Best wishes and big powder days to all of you in the new year!

Regards,
