Operation Dates: 1950's
Lifts: 1 rope tow
History:
By Bill Fetcher
This appears to have been one of Gordy Wren's ventures. He takes credit
for promoting skiing for youngsters by launching a number of small-town
rope tow hills during the 1950s. I recall this hill sported a rope tow during
the late '50s. It crossed an irrigation ditch, which was roofed over. The
hill, also used for sliding, is to the east of Solandt Hospital approximately
where Washington Avenue and Aspen and Pine Streets meet. Though the
hill looks steep, bear in mind that several decades of overgrowth, erosion
and construction have altered the hill's contour. Any further information,
such as dates of operation, or memories regarding these two hills would
be appreciated.
