Magic Mountain
Dates of Operation: 1958-1959
Vertical Drop: 700 feet
Average Snowfall: 75 inches
Lifts: 2 surface
Facilities: Base Lodge, Snowmaking, Night Skiing
History: Magic Mountain was the first area in Colorado to install a
snowmaking system.  This was necessary because of the "lack" of
reliable snow in the Golden area.  After the area went defunct the
snowmaking system was sold to Ski Broadmoor near Colorado
Springs.  Woodmoor, the company that built Stagecoach, turned Magic
Mountain into Heritage Square.  If you have ever been to the park you'll
notice a similarity between Stagecoach's base lodge and the buildings at
Heritage Square.
Magic Mountain Today: Most of the mountain's slopes no longer
exist due to the fact they have been mined away!  You can still ride the
double because it now serves an alpine slide.
Location: West Golden, visible from I-70 at Golden.
