After 7 years of silence, on December 17, 2007 Ski Rio announced a
new owner CIMEX Invest Inc of Naples, FL and the Czech Republic.
They purchased the ski area for a reported 6.5 million dollars. Included
with the sale are the chairlifts, base facilities, hotels, 2,500 acres of private
land, and water rights. The sale was prompted by the bankruptcy court
overseeing the property.
Currently, we are not aware of any plans regarding the reopening of Rio's
ski area facilities. We will post any updates as soon as more information
arises.
